Game Recap

CENTRAL ROUTS HUSKIES WITH 2nd QUARTER BLITZ

The North Huskies were overwhelmed by a Central assault that resulted in three touchdowns in 2:43 of play during the second quarter of Friday night's game.  Following Daniel Sellers' 45 yard touchdown reception to begin the second quarter, the Huskies were only down 13-7 and it appeared momentum might be on the Green and White's side.  The Bears, however, responded with a 48 yard touchdown pass, a 62 yard run from scrimmage for the second score, and an interception that was immediately followed by a 42 yard touchdown pass.

In less than three minutes of play the chance to retain the North Side Trophy went by the wayside and the Huskies were forced out of their game plan.  Trailing by 27 points and not half way through the second quarter, North had to resort to gambling with blitzes on defense and long passes on offense in order to catch up and neither tactic proved reliable.

The game was not without its share of Huskies who refused to give up.  Junior Shawn Coane ignited the crowd with a 70 yard touchdown crowd just before halftime.  He finished the game with over 100 yards rushing and kept his average yards rushing per game above the century mark.  Fellow junior Cage Street contested the outcome until the final gun and finished with an amazing 18 tackles--eleven of them solo--and assisted on two tackles for loss.  Seniors Marquaill Harvey, Trais Lowe, and Bryce Brown each continued to 'fight the good fight' and slowed Central (who in their typical fashion played their starters long after the outcome of the game was in hand) in the second half.

The game ended with a score of 41-13 and marked the second time in three seasons the Bears have beaten the Huskies by four touchdowns.
