UNDERCLASSMEN LEAD HUSKIES TO LOPSIDED WIN IN SCRIMMAGE

Having graduated 64% of last years points-per-game scorers and 70% of last season's rebounds-per-game, the 2013-14 Huskies looked to underclassmen to pick up the slack in both areas.  Sophomore C.J. Hedgepeth and junior Robert West combined for 33 of North's 71 points in Saturdays scrimmage against the Sullivan Golden Arrows.  Junior center Austin Elmore contributed 12 points and junior Chase Whitler added 10.

The defense by the Huskies was devastating for the Golden Arrows as North held their opponents to just 31% shooting from the field and forced 23 turnovers.  North jumped out and won each of the first three scrimmage periods handily by building 12 point leads or more in all three sessions.  Lax work on the defensive boards allowed the Arrows to claim a fourth session victory.

North plays its first regulation game of the season Saturday evening at 7:30pm at home against North Posey.  The junior varsity make their debut at 6 o'clock and will be coached by former UE standout and Harrison alumnus Brent Kell.  Kell won the Edward S. Steitz Award as the NCAA's top three-point shooter in 1994 and was named to the Horizon League All-Newcomer team.  He is a 1991 graduate of Harrison.
