RALLY COMES UP SHORT ON LAST SECOND SHOT AS HUSKIES DROP FINAL GAME IN OLD GYM 55-52

With a crowd of thousands on hand to watch the final regular season basketball game to ever be played in the North gymnasium, the Huskies erased a 12 point 3rd quarter deficit and nearly sent the game to overtime at the buzzer.  Jaylen Chambers' 3 point attempt came up short as the final buzzer sounded and North lost to Terre Haute South by a score of 55-52.

Chambers kicked off a ferocious fourth quarter rally by nailing a three from "downtown" to begin the final stanza.  On North's next trip down the court, the sophomore guard buried a 12 foot jump shot to trim the deficit to 7 points.  Junior Ty Pauley then hit a layup and followed that up with two free throws and North trailed by just three points with four minutes to play.  After Chambers nailed another deep three point shot to narrow the gap to two, the Braves "took the air out of the ball" and ran time off the clock until there was just under two minutes remaining.

South missed their shot and 'Big' Mike Johnson grabbed the rebound with a minute thirty seconds to play.  Pauley spotted Drew Watters in the corner and the sophomore forward lofted a high arcing shot three-point shot that made "string music" and gave the Huskies their only lead of the second half at 52-51.  Alas, three consecutive turnovers squandered chances to increase the lead and the Braves made the most of the opportunities to take a 55-52 lead with 4 seconds to play.  Chambers' errant three pointer closed out the night.

Former coaches, athletic directors, cheerleaders, basketball players, principals, and this year's seniors were all recognized during the evening.  Chambers led all North scorers with 17 points and Pauley added 15 to go with 11 rebounds, six assists, and 2 steals.

 JAYVEES FALL 37-36 TO TERRE HAUTE SOUTH IN GAME'S FINAL SECONDS

    North's Junior Varsity lost a neck-and-neck battle on a free throw with 1.9 seconds to play and fell 37-36 to Terre Haute South.  In a game which neither team ever led by more than four points, long possessions ran time off the clock for both teams.  North turned the ball over with just under ten seconds to play and the Braves capitalized on the error. 

    Drew Watters and Dan Grimm each scored 8 points to lead the Huskies in scoring.  Brock Underwood in his fourth consecutive game to start both the jayvee and the varsity games added 5 points in one quarter of play.
