WICKED HUSKIES DEFENSE STOPS BEARS IN THEIR TRACKS 54-44
In a low scoring affair, the North Huskies defense forced their arch rival Central Bears to routinely take off-balanced shots and seldom allowed them any second chance opportunities on North's way to a ten point decision. The game's final score could have been much more one-sided except for a cold streak in the third period brought on by poorly chosen three point shots on three consecutive possession. Central capitalized on the cold streak and cut the lead to a single point at 32-31 after which the Huskies regrouped following a time-out. Within minutes, the North lead stretched back out to nine points and the Huskies cruised to victory by sinking 8 of their nine final free throw attempts and closing the door on any chance of a Central comeback. Balanced scoring saw three Huskies in double figures--seniors Ryan Caddell, Cameron Gelhausen, and Scott Bunnell. Fellow senior Aidan Blackford played a critical role by suffocating the Bears leading scorer with tight defense while contributing nine points, five rebounds, and four assists.
The JayVee Huskies made it a "Double Win" night with a 46-37 victory over the Bears by taking charge and breaking open a close game in the fourth quarter. In similar fashion to the varsity, the JayVee squad sank free throws down the stretch and played tight defense in the game's waning moments to insure a huge Homecoming night for North in front of a raucous crowd.
