"HUSKY TIME" IN PARADISE CONTINUES WITH 63-56 SPANKING OF KNIGHTS
It's official: The North Huskies "owned" Paradise in the 2019-2020 season. On the heels of a victory over the Knights in football last October, the Huskies went into Castle gym and beat down the Knights. Despite losing the Huskies' leading scorer to the flu and playing shorthanded, North took the lead midway through the first quarter and never looked back. In what could only be described as "the best game of his career" (to date!), senior Tristen Fisher assumed control of the game in the second period. 16 points, FIFTEEN rebounds, SIX blocked shots, two deflections, and four assists later, all that was left of the Knights was a smoking hull of the team that started the game.
Fisher's back-to-back buckets inside to start the fourth quarter resulted in an "and one" with a free throw to stretch North's lead to 10 points. The margin remained there as junior Delavian Crenshaw added a bucket and senior Dylan McKinney drained a three with less than 2:50 to play. Castle made a quick run to narrow the score to 56-54 following some typical "Paradise Calls" by the men in stripes, but, as has so often been the case down the stretch in close games, sophomore Cameron Decker made his presence known with a bucket and a pair of clutch free throws. Castle continued to put the Huskies at the line in an effort to close the gap, hoping North would miss free throws.
They didn't.
Again.
McKinney "put the fork" in the Knights much as he had done in football with a pair of late free throws that established the final margin.
The Huskies are riding their first three game win streak in the SIAC conference since three straight "On The Road" victories over Central, Bosse, and Memorial in the 2011-2012 season.
