HUSKIES FAIL TO HOLD LATE LEAD IN THRILLING 65-64 LOSS TO CENTRAL

When seniors Jaylen Chambers and Drew Watters combined for six consecutive points to break open a 47-47 tie and give North a six point lead with 5:30 to play, it appeared as though the Huskies were on their way to victory Friday night.  Having led throughout the game's first three quarters, Central had climbed back into the game by pounding the ball inside and making free throws.  But when Chambers streaked to the bucket with his fourteenth point of the night, it appeared that the Huskies had re-established their lead for good.

And then came a rain of three-point baskets by Central from well beyond the arc.

With North playing zone defense, the Bears threw in four of the long range shots and took the lead in the game's final minute.  Chambers' shot at the buzzer rimmed out and North lost by one point on the road at Central Gym.

Chambers led the Huskies with 14 and freshman guard CJ Hedgepeth contributed 13 points and nine assists.  Senior Brock Underwood pulled down a "double-double" with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
