HUSKY DEFENSE LEADS THE WAY IN 54-43 VICTORY OVER NORTHVIEW

    The North Huskies forced 21 turnovers and held Northview to just 36% shooting en route to a 54-43 victory over the Northview Knights.  After a first quarter that saw the two teams tied at 12, North switched to a zone defense and applied a press in the second quarter.  The pressure defense held the Knights to just five field goal attempts in the entire second period and North jumped out to a 25-16 lead. 

      Six different Huskies recorded multiple steals and center Austin Elmore blocked four shots on the evening.  Elmore also led the Huskies in scoring with 12 points and 8 rebounds.

    In the JayVee game, sophomore Zac Turi opened up with an eight point first quarter explosion to give North an early lead.  Northview started three juniors and battled back to make it a close game.  The Huskies trailed entering the fourth quarter but guards Chase Whitler and Shaylin Harris contributed multiple assists and applied pressure defense that enabled North to regain the lead down the stretch.  Turi's free throws in the final minute sewed up a 42-40 victory for the JayVees.  To see the complete box score click here.
