PANTHERS OUTMUSCLE HUSKIES IN 68-52 LOSS AT CORYDON

Corydon Central put on a clinic on the offensive boards and made the most of second shot opportunities in a 68-52 win over North Saturday.  The Huskies blocked 11 shots in the game, but most of those blocks led to second chance baskets.  North's normal "take away" margin on turnovers--the Huskies were averaging ten steals per game--was nowhere to be seen and the poor showing on defense led to the defeat.

Despite trailing most of the game, North pulled to a 40-38 lead with 1:42 to play in the 3rd quarter.  From that point forward, however, the Huskies were whistled for enough fouls that the Panthers went to the line 14 times in the 4th quarter.  North, in contrast, only saw the charity stripe twice in the final stanza.

Jaylen Chambers led the Huskies with 15 points and senior Brock Underwood led North with 6 rebounds.

In the Jayvee game, sophomore center Andrew Spalding recorded a "double-double" while leading the Jayvees to a 38-28 victory.  Spalding's 13 points and 11 rebounds were both season highs for him.  It marked the fourth straight game that the Jayvees have held their opponent below 30 points as they improved their season record to 5-2.  To view the Jayvee Box Score CLICK HERE.
