HUSKIES COAST TO 71-42 WIN OVER MATER DEI

Streaking to a 20-4 first quarter lead, the North Huskies nearly ran the Mater Dei Wildcats out of the gym Saturday night.  Featuring a balanced attack in which four players reached double figures in points scored and everyone played at least one quarter, North built a 38 point lead and then coasted to victory.

North's guards were too fast and too aggressive for the Wildcats.  Freshman CJ Hedgepath threw in 13 points to go with his six assists and five rebounds.  Sharp shooting guard Drew Watters provide plenty of outside scoring punch with three long three-point baskets that forced Mater Dei out of their zone defense.  Senior Jaylen Chambers piled up 13 points despite leaving the game for good in the third quarter.  Center Brock Underwood provided outstanding defense in the middle by blocking three shots and containing Mater Dei's best player.

In the Jayvee game, forward Ryan Gulledge again led the Huskies in scoring with 14 points as North won 33-29.  The Huskies led throughout the game and dominated the boards down the stretch to sustain the margin of victory.  Sophomore Dylan Mulherrin had his best all-round game of the season with 11 rebounds, 7 points, and two blocked shots.
