ANOTHER SLOW START DOOMS HUSKIES IN 60-53 LOSS TO BRAVES

For the fourth time this season, the North Huskies started slow after a long duration layoff between games.  Likewise for the fourth time this season, the Green & White came roaring back in the fourth quarter only to fall short of their mark in a 60-53 loss to Terre Haute South.

Trailing by 17 points at 44-27 with just three minutes to play in the third quarter, senior guard Ty Pauley broke free for a pair of two point goals to start the Huskies on a 26-11 run over the game's next ten minutes of play.  Fellow senior Jay'von Gilmore scored 9 points in the run including a pair of free throws that cut the lead to just 55-53 with only 58 seconds to play.

The comeback fell short, however, as Terre Haute South, who had missed 5 of 7 free throws earlier in the 4th period suddenly regained their form from the free throw line and sank five from the charity stripe in the final seconds to preserve their win.

Jaylen Chambers led North with 15 points and Pauley recorded his sixth "Double-Double" of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds to go with his 7 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocked shots.

In the Jayvee game, North battled against a junior laden Braves team and, despite a two point lead midway through the third quarter, lost 47-40.  The JayVee Huskies led at 29-27 in the third quarter, but gave away too many second and third shot attempts to Terre Haute South down the stretch.  Trailing 42-31 entering the fourth quarter, the Huskies rallied with 8 straight points to begin the final period and held South scoreless for five minutes, but the Braves closed with a pair of "put-back" buckets to hold off North.

Freshman Robert West led North with 19 points and fellow freshman Austin Elmore scored 9 points to go with 5 rebounds and 5 blocked shots in just two quarters of play.
